Every year, the Wise Therapy Spotlight is one of the most rewarding projects we do at Academy of Therapy Wisdom.
This year, we asked,
How, as a community, do we repair a sick world when it is anguished with mental suffering?
We are interested in your reflections on therapeutic practices and wise approaches to addressing the mental health crisis locally and globally without ignoring the ecosystem we are all living and breathing. How can the therapeutic community extend its reach to mitigate mental distress for individuals from all walks of life, from the youth to the seniors?
The outpouring of responses has been astounding for their depth of consideration.
The final selections below range from the thoughtfully academic (such as Antonella Sansone, PhD) to the poignantly playful (Sandra Wartski, PsyD). Many talk about self-care, nature, and resilience, and the inextricably social nature of mental health.
The pieces are presented in no particular order. Each is worth spending some time with. It is our hope that reading the words of your colleagues around the world brings you closer to them and to yourself.
With sincere appreciation for you,
Brian Spielmann & Ian McPherson
Co-directors, Academy of Therapy Wisdom
